BONO: Stories of Surrender (Immersive)

(Trailer for the 2D Version)

STORIES OF SURRENDER (IMMERSIVE), the first-ever full-length feature film for Apple’s Vision Pro headset, is a deeply personal look into the life of U2 frontman, Bono.  This immersive version of the documentary combines up-close, 2D and 3D photography and layers of hand drawn animation inspired by Bono’s own illustration and presented in stunning 8K resolution with spatial audio.  Based around the intimate autobiography, Bono elevated the notion of the “quaint” book tour into something a bit more rock n’roll, equal parts theater, confessional and concert, filmed at the historic Beacon Theatre in New York City.  The immersive version served as a pioneering journey between Apple’s TV and immersive teams, RadicalMedia and the artists and VFX technicians at The Artery, co-produced by Plan B Entertainment and directed by Andrew Dominik.  The Immersive version was creative directed by Elad Offer.

Luke Buckmaster of The VR Critic wrote of the immersive version: "A crazy, eye-popping, fully dimensional dream, filling the space between me and the screen, and the stage and performer." Sigmund Judge of MacStories wrote: "the creative team behind Bono: Stories of Surrender (Immersive) has essentially skipped a step by showing off another use case for Apple Immersive Video, one with the potential to elevate new creations from indie filmmakers who have limited access to immersive cameras and established studios looking to add some flair to their fan-favorite films and properties."
